Until 1991, resistance is primarily a reaction to the authoritarian tyranny of the Iraqi regime. With the formation of a self-governing Kurdish enclave in northern Iraq after the Second Gulf War, it became the largest center of resistance against Saddam Hussein's regime. Fischer-Tahir is concerned with the representation of resistance from the perspective of simple actors, which she asks using methods of oral history and biography research.
