چکیده : | This book examins the prehistory of Iranian studies, in particular the evolution of Zoroaster. The West has always been interested in Zoroaster, seeing him from various angles. To the Greeks, he appeared as the master of Pythagoras and the very founder of Philosophy. To the Christians, he was the first of those Magi three of whom had come to Bethlehem, but also the abominable inventor of astrology and magic. The Middle Ages remembered him as the Arch-heretic, responsible for Catharism. From the Renaissance through a period which culminated in Oxford in 1700, Zoroaster was exploited either against Christianity or in support of the Church |
