چکیده : | This book deals with Roman Public Law, Municipal Law, and Usage in the Gospels and Acts of the Apostles. Its aim is to put New Testament scholars and historically minded Bible readers in touch with the more recent developments of Roman historical research, which have not been fully appreciated in some recent biblical studies. The falsity of a common basic assumption about the trial of Christ is demonstrated at some length. The social background of the synoptic narrative Christ in Galilee, and of the activities of St. Paul in Greek lands, is re-examined in the light of modern scholarship. Ancient historians also should find the discussions and conclusions about fundamental issues stimulating and informative |
